Hi Everyone,
Sorry to be so long in putting out an update on Lois' condition, but it has been a real task trying to find enough time to leave the hospital and come home to use the computer.
Don't let anyone tell you that prayer does not work--Lois is living proof that it does.
She had been in the hospital for 2 weeks with bronchial pneumonia before the emergency surgery on her stomach and intestines on Sunday, 11/18. The operation went well, but because of the poison that had already hit the bloodstream, the surgeon didn't give us a lot of hope for survival and she was being kept alive by a ventilator. But because of the prayers of all our many friends, some excellent doctors, and a new miracle drug (which I can neither spell nor pronounce), she began to improve. On Wednesday, 11/21, she was able to breathe on her own and was taken off the ventilator. Then her temperature began to come down, and her blood pressure went up to normal. On Saturday, 11/24, she was moved from the Critical Care Unit to a regular room for special care patients. Lois has gotten past one hurdle with the poison, but she still has a long, long way to go in her recovery. But because of the reasons listed above, she is well on the way! She is still very, very weak. We hope that all of you will please continue to keep us in your prayers. Lois isn't able to talk with visitors, but she sure could use the encouragement from a card or note. We have read your many messages to her from the Forum. If you would like to send her a card, she is in Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, 1901 Clinch Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37916, Room 503.
I hope all of you are enjoying the holiday season, and again, THANKS TO EACH AND EVERY ONE, and God Bless You![This message was edited by Stoney Stonecipher on 25 November 2001 at 06:43 PM.] |

Stoney, that is the best news I've heard all day.
I know that with continued prayers from the steel guitar community and others, that Lois will be with us for a long long time.
She has to, the Chattanooga show is coming up, and the two of you MUST be there.
We love you both
