BEFORE THIS GOES ANY FURTHER ::: I want everyone to know and understand that I am NOT the "George Lake" whom Baz has headlined in his thread. As with "John Smith", if you look in your local telephone book you will probably find a "George Lake" listed in your city. Many years ago there was a recording artist in Hawai'i by the name of "George Lake", (not sure if he was related to Kahuanu Lake). The album Baz is selling probably features him. I never did find out if he played steel. To my knowledge, he passed away well over 10 years ago. It's a common name. You will also find in the Honolulu phone directory another "Jerry Byrd". I'll bet this guy must get a lot of nuisance phone calls every year especially when steel players hit Waikiki for the Convention! (Steel Guitarist Jerry Byrd is not listed in the Honolulu directory...he has a 'silent' number). |

I have a copy of this album. Not only is the George Lake in question not "our" George Lake, he's not even a steel player, at least not on this record. Instead, he plays a couple of tunes on autoharp (not, to my knowledge, an overused instrument in Hawaiian popular music). The album does include a couple of nice steel duets by Jules Ah See and Joseph Custino, however, but is otherwise a fairly unremarkable collection. |

Thanks Ian for the clarification re: "George Lake"...
Now that you mentioned it, I do recall someone telling me he played the autoharp...I think it was one of the ladies who sang with the "Kuhina Serenaders" duo...(I cannot recall their last names at the moment...Marge and Pauline come to mind). The two ladies played autoharp and electric bass. They sang beautifully together. They were very popular around Waikiki scene about 10-15 years ago. The lady who played autoharp as I recall later passed away. |

Dear George,
I owe you an apology,
I did NOT know it wasn't you, I jumped to the conclusion that it WAS you on purely the familiarity of the name.
Just as you jumped to the conclusion that It was me selling the album, when in fact If you'd FULLY read the e-bay ad. you'd have seen the seller was in the USA.
Never mind.... we're both keeping our names to the forefront, and as the old addage goes, "There's no such thing as BAD publicity"

Yah Baz....You're right...I missed the name of the seller thinking it was you...e kali mai i'au.
Anyway, your apology is accepted...it was all a mistake with no harm done. I think I should change my name to something less popular like John Smith
