Opry 9/29 steel player?

Post by Walter Jones »

OK guys, who was the non pedal steel player last night on the Opry. He played on the song Rumba Boogie, didn't get much camera time or featured but what I could see of him he was having a great time. He did some nice stuff with the strings muted and his picks, gave it a nice Latin beat. I couldn't even get a good enough look to see what kind of guitar he was playing. Since it was a Hank Snow song was it one of Hanks players?

Kayton Roberts. He was one of the Rainbow Ranch Boys and he plays a Fender and probably replaces the tone pot about once a week as he really knows how and when to use it.
[This message was edited by Mike Weirauch on 23 September 2001 at 09:46 PM.]

We'll all have to chip in & get Kayton a Hilton pedal ! OOPS! there I go again with
those senior moments....I was thinking of the
volume pot. Is Kayton doing those wah-wahs
the non-pedal players did 50 years ago?
[This message was edited by Doug Seymour on 24 September 2001 at 12:30 PM.]
