Congratulations, gentlemen. You are both a credit to the industry, and well deserving of being inducted into the Steel Guitar Hall of fame. Your talent is exceeded only by the modesty with which you accepted the awards.

Congratulations.

Congratulations Herby and Tom. I think your induction into the SGHOF was long overdue. If I have ever heard of 2 Steel Players that can flat get the job done, and have been for MANY years, these these are the two.

I have not had the privilege to hear Tom Morrell except for once at the Atlanta show, but I could not believe what I was hearing from a non-pedal steel. Many of my heros refer to Tom as one of their heros, so that speaks volumes.

What else can be said be said about Herby Wallace that has not already been said? He is a monster player with a tremendous library of instruction courses that he produces and promotes steel guitar by attending many steel shows. He is a very candid person to speak to--he tells you exactly what he thinks. For all that he means to the steel guitar community, Herby is very worthy of this induction. I remember throwing his name out on one of those SGHOF posts a couple of years ago. Maybe the committee reads this forum after all. Image

The "E" had a real nice post about Herby several weeks ago, referring to "that fire" that Herby has when he plays. As Buddy said, we can all feel it in the audience.

Herby, thank you for making me a better player with your courses, recordings, and influence.

Sincerely,

Frank

..... and futhermore, don't anybody ever say that I can't even carry Tom Morrell's case.
Not only did I carry his case, it had his guitar in it, but I also carried his amp and external speaker, two gig bags, and2 boxes of his CD's.

Since I have lost his phone number and forgotten where he lives, keep an eye on BUY and Sell as I will be listing the above items in a few days.

On the return trip,I also brought his new Hall of Fame plaque. I will not be listing it however.

Getting his name off and putting mine in its place has turned into an all day job,but it was worth the trouble as it looks nice hanging on my music room wall.

I sure hope Tom enjoyed that nice round trip plane ride that Scotty furnished for him. It was sure a long tiring drive from Texas to St Louis and back by myself, but it was worth it.
[This message was edited by louie hallford on 03 September 2001 at 09:32 PM.]

Congratulations guys. You both are super pickers and first rate in my book. Herbie I can now say I have studied with a Hall of Famer. It doesn't get you anything but it makes me sound more impressive
