Anyone heard the new CD Jim and Jesse just put out? It's all country and Jeff Newman is playing steel. He did a really fine job (as usual). Wish he would do more recording.
[This message was edited by Dave Diehl on 14 July 2001 at 05:57 PM.]

It's called "Our Kind of Country".

Tunes are:
1. Under Your Spell Again
2. Wasted Words
3. Foolin' Around
4. The Voice Of My Darling
5. Heartaches By The Number
6. Heart Over Mind
7. Lovin' Machine
8. The Same Old Me
9. Til These Dreams Come True
10. I've Got A New Heartache
11. The End Of My Rainbow
12. Invitation To The Blues

They played a song from it on the Opry three weeks ago. I don't think Jeff was there.

It's listed at walmart.com, along with audio samples (that don't yet work).

Image All good '50s and '60s "Honky-Tonk" Country. Lots of fiddle and steel! Buy it at...
http://www.pinecastle.com/

Go to the "New Releases" area, and you can buy it on CD for $12.95, or casette for $7.95.

Well worth it in my book!
[This message was edited by Donny Hinson on 23 July 2001 at 02:53 PM.]

Probably the most listened to and fun CD I have bought in years; What super playing. If you don't like steel guitar, you won't like this CD. This is the way I like my country - steel and fiddle, out front and on every break. If anyone ever had a question about Jeff's playing, they have a real awakening on this one. Just wish he would do more like this.

I've had the pleasure and privilege of being on stage in a live band with Jeff Newman. He's a monster. I've taken his courses and they are simply the best. He told me of the CD but I have not got it yet and wan't aware I could get it from Walmart but I will have it very soon now that I can get it on line.

Didn't Jeff work for them in the 1960s, back when they had an electric band and a regular steel player?

This is truly nostalgic music. If you like the steel sounds of the early '60s, including the steelplaying styles of Mooney, McDonald, Owens, Paycheck, Green, Emmons, Brumley, and Myrick...you'll find all these steelplayer's sounds here. Jeff has done a fantastic job of capturing the essence of the "old sounds" that many of us love. The early Fender 1000 tones, and the old Sho~Bud and Z-B sounds are all here, too.

If you're into those new full "fat tones" and digital-sounding music, this ain't gonna be your cup of tea. But if you remember when Mooney was hot, and Fuzzy Owens and Johnny Paycheck played steel, then this is for you!

This is Country with a twang, and WITHOUT throbbing bass, banging drums, and fuzz guitars.

In other words...refreshing.
