Yeap, he is my very favorite for various reasons! In fact, yesterday I got the CD version of his "Uptown to Country" (Diggin Doug) from an Ebay auction. I listened to it at work today. I have the cassette, but really enjoy this remix a lot better and the convenience of random selection.
I have never heard of the album you mentioned.
As for the guitar he used, based on the year the album was made, we could make a good guess.
Basically, Doug played Sho~Buds after playing an Emmons push-pull on "Uptown to Country" in 1970. At some point after that, he went with Sho~Buds. I suspect some little fallout with Emmons Guitar Co.
I know Doug played Sho~Buds at least until 1983 when he recorded his first Gospel instrumental album, which is a dandy.
Doug played a Mullen on the 1986 "Jazz on 10" recording and I think he played a Nashville LTD for a little while after that. Not sure what year.
I am not sure when he went with Zum, but that is what he plays now.
He still owns at least 2 Sho-Bud Super Pros. One he leaves setup at the church where plays and one in his music room.
Doug is first class all the way!
Now, we all need to convince him to make a Christmas CD. He has talked about it, but I think he was having second thoughts when I asked him about it several months ago. He replied, "Do you think it will sell?"
