Today Jimmy B. was on the today show live. Who ever mixed his sound sure gave his steel player plenty of volume. As he was comping, his chords was well heard and on Come Monday, his playing was great. I commend all involved with the show The steel player.

My buddy Doyle Grisham has been working for Jimmy B. It might have been him as I missed it. He is a great player, played on all the Rany Travis hits.
[This message was edited by Mike Jones on 27 July 2001 at 08:29 AM.]

Mike,
Are you sure [I know he's your friend]
it isn't Doyle Gresham [Grissom]? He was the
steeler on Buffet albums 1 & 2, "A White
Sport Coat, and A Pink Crustacean", and I forget the title of the other one.

He has a unique sound and favors slides,
glisses, that are really prominent.

Maybe it isn't Gresham. I was under the impression he was strictly doing only studio work. He never went out on the road with Buffet, when Buffet started out. And I don't think he was in the Coral Reefer Band, either. So now, maybe, he's going on the road. Who's to know. FWIW

It was Doyle on the show Friday. He as been with the group a while. I spent about 10 hours with him in Denver at the end of May rehashing old times. Had a great visit, introduced him to my grandchildren, had some burgers, stayed up late talking about our youth. Great guy, great player.

I saw the show and was happy to see Jimmy with Doyle agian, and yes you could haer it loud and clear. There were few shots of Doyle but if you watched, you could see him. I think he went back in the studio and the road with Jimmy after the 'Beach house on the Moon' album.

Man those early Buffett album with Doyle on them remain some of my favorite 'Desert Island' Discs.
