Volume Pedal Trouble

My Legrand came with an Emmons volume pedal. Problem is it pops and cracks though the amp when you press the pedal down. Im using a new Ernie Ball pedal for now but the dadgum thing is built too tall. Is there a rebuild kit for the Emmons pedal? Thanks!

Rick;
First check the ground on the Emmons pedal. Make sure the wire is attached to the pedal body, (somewhere in the center of the pedal)
Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. There's not a lot to go wrong with them.
Good luck!

A bad pot will cause that - common problem with any pot type volume pedal. Get a new pot - replace it with the same kind ONLY - and it will fix the problem. You can get a replacement from Emmons or most of the steel guitar shops such as Bobbe Seymour's, Scotty's, etc.
You can try moving the pedal through the full range about 10 times, disconnected from the amp, and see if it helps. Sometimes it will "clean" it up temporarily.

Rick, as perviously mentioned, check the ground. Buddy Charleton put a new pot on that pedal about hmmmm, six months ago. I can't imagine my expertise on the steel would cause that pot to deteriorate so fast, although you never know! Maybe too much exposure to a constant atmospheric variance in my home, would cause that pot to go bad!
