Buddy and Buck?

Buddy would you share with us your time spent recording with Buck Owens. I remember a cut on an album where Buck introduces you with great enthusiasm as "Here is Buddy Emmons on Steel guitar" or something to that effect I think it may have been a cajun song . I have never read any comments from you on the subject. Did you become a member of the Buckaroos or was this mainly in the studio. Thanks in advance Buddy.

Bill,
I was never a member of the Buckaroos, except when working with them at Buck's studio in Bakersfield. I was involved in two or three albums, but after the second drive from LA to Bakersfield, the pay diminished, which made the miles seem a lot longer so I had to adjust accordingly.

I believe that Buddy is on The Buckaroos album BOOT HILL (Capitol ST 550), from 1970.
I think?

I do remember one song that Buddy did play
on. It was a duet with Buck and Susan Raye.
The song was "Were Gonna Get Together". He
did a riff where the modulation occured and
got Susan into the new key. Classic
Buddy...PS I stole the lick Image

Jerry,
Thanks for reminding me of Susan Raye. I wanted to mention it but at the time all I could think of was Susan. When I thought of her last name, I wasn't sure how she spelled it.
As for the lick, I wondered where it went.

Jerry;
While you're waiting, check out the: Tab from Buddy page. Lots of cool licks from the Maestro!

Buddy;
When you get some time and feel like sharing a couple of licks, send them on up and I'll get them posted. Image

Maybe I can find that Susan Raye lick, too.

My best,
Ernie

Buddy,
Was it at this time that you recorded one of my FAVORITE E9th steel guitar instrumentals, "Cajun Steel Guitar" ? It is a truly virtuoso performance!!

Jerry, I've heard a few licks of yours that I would love to "steel!" In fact, so would hundreds of others! The playing you did with Buck was some pretty amazing stuff too!
