I have a man building me a dobro and I am getting ready to order the hardware, my question is what is the best hardware to buy and who from. Do you recommend chrome plated brass hardware or just chrome plated. I know that I'll probaby use the quarterman cone. Thanks for any help.

Maybe you should go on ebay. I was trolling there yesterday and there was quite a bit of dobro pieces for sale on there. Some cover plates if I'm not mistaken. Do a search under "dobro".

I would highly recommend the higher palm rest coverplate sold by Paul Beard of Resophonic Outfitters. It is chrome plated brass.

One of the problems with chrome plated steel is that if the plating wears through, the metal underneath can rust. If you wear through the plating on a brass coverplate, it will not rust.
