Vintage Regal Dobro?

A friend of mine, not a steel-player, recently inherited this instrument from a relative. It appears to be a pre-war squareneck, (possibly a 37?)but neither of us know much about vintage instruments. Can anyone identify it from the picture?

He also inherited a Fender Stringmaster Triple (#804) and several lap-steels and guitars.
