If you've never heard the two Bruce Clarke Hawaiian Hotshots discs, feast your ears on this:
http://www.cumquatrecords.com.au/aloha.htm

A couple of my old college buddies were visiting a few weeks ago, and they couldn't stop listening to them! Each time we returned home from our bachelor adventures, they had the stereo on playing the Hotshots. Best of all, it was the first time one of them had ever really listened to Hawaiian music...the best music on earth!

I told Bruce about it, and he mentioned that he's been considering making a tab and music package, if there would be enough interest in it.

He has all of the Hotshots recordings digitized, and could put out a CD minus the steel guitar, along with tabulature.

With the shortage of good non-pedal educational material out there, I, for one, would jump on this! Anyone else interested?

And more good news...I think he has enough songs for another Hawaiian Hotshots volume! It's such a treat to hear contemporary recordings of Hawaiian music...most of my collection is full of old mono records. Plus, the Hotshots arrangements are awesome, too!

With his restoration projects, teaching, and other commitments, Bruce is a busy guy; but would be happy to take the time to produce a Tab and CD pakage for us all, if there was enough interest generated for him to divert time to it.

So, what do you say guys and gals?

The line starts behind me!

If you ever wanted to hear a "swinging" JB MINUS the volume pedal ... listen to Bruce Clarke ....

He left the Hawaiian steel for a career as a Jazz guitarist ... only to pick it up years later ... just for kicks ... ala these Hotshot albums ...

One of those CD's feature Bruce playin 7 or 8 of JB's Pro-Arrangements ....

If the Jazz world hadn't "gotten" him .... and he dedicated those 60 years to Hawaiian steel exclusively ....

I would love to have the rhythm tracks .... his jazz based "backup" band is phenominal ...

He promised me a Sol Hoopii Radio Transcription restoration ... when he's done with that and the Andy Iona series ... I'd love to see this project come to life

I am a fan of Bruce Clark as well! He has enriched me and my girlfriends musical world as only a few have. His engineering work on his C.D's is the best. He told me recently that he has about two hundred Andy Iona Tabs in his warehouse, and that he put a package out there once and no one seemed interested, so he let that one go. I would be the first in line if Bruce came out with a study package! By the way Rick Aiello, I really dug that diminished run in minor 3rds you posted on Carl Dixon's bar slanting thread. I love trying to make the steel sound like a wailing "old school" horn section. Got any more stuff like that you could share? Thanks...

Bruce Clarke sent me some of the Andy Iona tab with one of my orders ...

I can't figure out if I have "evolved or de-evolved" since getting those restorations ... particularly Andy Iona ...

I spent almost 20 yrs learnin' how to slant and harmonize a melody ... now I am goin' to have to spend another 20+ yrs. learnin' how to play a single string..

Jesse ... after readin' that "modal" thread ... givin' you any tips would be like Richard Simmons tellin' Arnold Schwarzenegger how to work out

I have Bruce Clark's "Hawaiian Daze" CD and it's fantastic. Excellent performances, interesting arrangements and top notch recording quality.

Count me in for Bruce Clark instruction/tab and also the Andy Iona tab.
