Odd Plug For Guitar Jack

Back in the early '50's, I had a plug with a "grid" shorting feature. It allowed you to pull the plug out of the guitar with the other end still plugged into the amp and no crash nor buzz!! The plug case was of slightly larger diameter to allow for a spring loaded metal tip about 3/16 dia to protrude in parallel with the plug shaft. It shorted out the grid (hot)to ground before the plug tip broke contact with the jack. I don't know what happened to mine, but I have a use for one on stage where I sometimes play two guitars and the amplifier is out of reach. Has anybody seen a modern day version of this beast?
