Topic: Electric/Acoustic strings? |

| We all use the same non-wound strings. But on the wound strings, it seems that electric players prefer nickel or stainless steel windings and acoustic players prefer phosphor bronze. I've been going along with the trend without really understanding why. Does anybody know the difference???? |

| bronze reacts poorly with magnetic pickups, low strings are thin, this can be goodif guitar has too muck bottom end. Softer windngs wear more quickly from bar. |

| True dat! If you want to try some varity chose between round wound and flat wound stings. Round wounds are a little brighter and flats give a mellow tone and less string noise. |

| Phospher bronze became popular as a winding material on acoustic guitar strings because it didn't rust, and the strings sounded brighter, longer. Ferro-magnetic stainless steel has more recently been employed on electric guitars for much the same reason. |
