Remember the early 50's Fender Quad on eBay last week, the 15 year old buyer, the mixup, the "outside eBay" deal, the mystery price, etc...?
Well, it's been relisted due to a non-paying buyer... who would have guessed it?!
A different seller name, but the same seller?

That auction is a complete scam DO NOT BID ON IT!
Just about anytime some instrument sells on eBay for over $5000 within a week there are two or three scam auctions using the same pictures and text.
The real auction was by "replaymusic99" of Replay Music in Spokane, WA. Not "ricsrincon" from Canal Fulton, Ohio.
I reported it and now the auction has been pulled.[This message was edited by Alvin Blaine on 06 December 2006 at 02:27 AM.] |

The scammer had tried to list it 5-6 times in the last few days including three times on Monday, it would go up and disappear within a short time hopefully they won't try again. |

I'm glad I posted this topic because it exposed the fraud, but I do feel a little foolish for not recognizing the scam immediately. I can't believe how many dirtbags are out there looking for ways to steal money from honest working people.

I belong to the Martin Guitar Forum. Almost every week there is a scam on an expensive guitar. Never give out any personal information and always go through eBay with replies and such. Also, when someone wants you to send a Western Union payment, that's another other give-a-way.
Like you stated, there are so many crooks and people even worse than crooks, that buying and selling takes some skill to know all the fraud. |

This guy should just get a job. He works harder trying to steal from people than he would at a regular job.

I know many have good luck with e bay.But i agree 100% with Bobbe Seymour.Buy from a member of this forum or a dealer.Dealers are honset and you get after purchase protection and service as a dealer will bend over backwards to keep you happy with your purchase.

I just got an email from Joe - he has the Quad in his possession.
So if you see it on eBay, unless it's flyrightboy it's a scam. And somehow I doubt that's ever going to happen. |

I had this happen with a $7500 guitar I sold. A few weeks later the guitar was back on Ebay with my original ad being used!! Scam city.
Right now I am looking at a guitar with a seller in England. First time seller-private bids......Hmmmmmmm. I emailed him and he said he would sell the guitar right now for a certain price. I emailed him back and said yes and sent him all the info for handling the deal through an escrow service provided by Ebay. He sends the guitar to them and I send the money to them and THEN they send him his money and me the guitar. they charge a small fee.
Never heard back from him! Watch out on Ebay for larger ticket items. |

Since we drifted a bit...OK with me.
Yes, use the ESCROW service for big ticket items. I sold a Suburban to a guy in Maryland. We are both happy.
Also, the feedback numbers should tell you a lot.
Now back to the Quad. |
