Passwords - Why The Asterisks?
There may in fact be a good reason for it, but it just bugs me that I can't see my own passwords as I'm typing them. Being the typing whiz that I am, it sometimes takes a few tries to get it right. Is there some way to turn that off?

No. The astericks are a security measure that cannot be turned off in a password designated field, without special code workarounds. If you can't read what you are typing neither can a man in the middle attacker.
