Topic: Help with laptop noise issue |

HELP...I have just got a laptop pc,it works great though my HI FI System,but when i put it through my PA,then it makes a terrible buzzing noise,it is so loud i can`t play my CD`s ect,but what is strange to me is if i dissconect the mains adapter the noise stops any help into why it should do this,and how or if can i cure this problem? would be very welcome thanks in advance.

It's the standard "ground loop hum" issue. The differnce in AC ground potential between the laptop and PA. I suspect if you run the laptop on battery the hum will be gone.
I don't know about the UK mains but in the US, if we remove the ground from one device the ground loop goes away. |

I had that same exact problem and just put one of those three to two prong outlet adapters on the computer cable and got a nice quiet sound. |
