Hey all,

I am a brand new member to this forum, even though I have been looking and reading for awhile now.

I have been drawn to Pedal steel, for seems like my whole life... I finally aquired one about 10 years ago and have made a half dozen attempts to get comfortable with it over that period of time.

Even though I have used finger picks for years and a good finger picker, this insturment takes some getting used to.

I have played stringed instruments my whole life and have guitars everywhere, a bass and even ukelelees, which are a real kick if some of you have never tried playing them...

Getting back to the pedal steel, I got this Loyd Green LDG model from a guy named Bruce Leighton that toured with David Alan Coe with this instrument... It is in reasonably good shape and seems to have a good tone, but I really don't know squat about these pedal steels.

My question is; what is the big difference between a single neck and a double neck?

This one is tunded to E9 tuning and if the other neck would be tuned to a C6, what other types of music does that tuning open the door to?

This single neck, with three pedals and 4 knee levers seems to be condusive to playing in the major keys.

Is the C6 intended more for a blues scale?

My goal is just to sit down and play along with any song, any key, by ear.

Should I just stick with this one till I can wring some decent sounds out of it before I even think about a two neck guitar?

Sorry if this a real amaturish question.

Rick Bolduc,
