Wiz I am getting a ton of spam and want to stop it. I have been using the block message tool but the list is never ending. I use Windows 98 with Outlook Express. I only started getting all of this spam a few months ago. I do not have a firewall and use McAfee with automatic downloads when logging on to the server. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, George

George;
I will recommend the same solution I use to curtail spam, which is Mailwasher Pro. You can read all about it and download a trial version, or purchase a license that is good for updates for the life of the program, on my own Mailwasher Pro web page.

Several other SGF members have already downloaded and purchased Mailwasher Pro and use it as a front-end to screen incoming messages for Spam. MWP uses blacklists, whitelists, rules and filters to recognize spam (or not spam) and contains a Bayesian (Learning) filter that you can teach to recognize what you consider to be spam. MWP deletes marked spam either manually or automatically, depending on which options you choose in the Spam Tools section of the program.

My web page has the rest of the story, so I won't go into it anymore here. Perhaps some of the other members can chime in on their experiences with Mailwasher Pro, but I stand by it 100%.

WMP runs in parallel to Outlook (Express), so I set it to check for email every 10 minutes and turn off automatic checking in Outlook Express. After screening incoming email and deleting what I don't want I go to Outlook Express and press the Send/Receive button to download email I want to read in HTML, or save.

Same problem here, penny stocks. I am not sure there is a cure for those!

Wiz thanks for the info. I am not much of a computer expert or anything else but I will do as you have suggested and see if I can put a stop to this nuisance.

I use yahoo for my email. Anything I don't want I mark as spam and it is forever blocked from getting to me.

Also, Yahoo email is free and has a varity of options you can choose from.
