Please move this to 'electronics' if you feel it is most appropriately posted there.

I'm restoring an early 50s Fender Dual 8 steel and I have found that the volume pot appears to be non original. What are the original ohmage values for the volume and tone pots in this instrument? Thanks.

I believe it's a 250K audio taper pot. See this diagram for a Triple 8:

Does anyone have a value other than 250K in their Dual 8? This one has a 50K tone pot.

Ricky,
Why the 1 meg tone pot? Because that is the original value or because it works better? Please elucidate!! And thanks.

Original equipment values:

250,000 (250K) ohms AUDIO taper volume control

1,000,000 (1Megohm) ohms LINEAR taper tone control

Tone capacitor - .05 microfarads

Greetings Bob.
My experience - 250k audio pots for both tone and volume w/ .05 cap.

Yes I like the values to be like the original....simply because of the way anything different will change the tone of the guitar too much.
I like to use a Volume/Tone pedal for my effects as opposed to the ones on the guitar....but when not using a volume/tone pedal....the 250 and 1 meg....sound better to me and give me the effect I'm looking for....as I don't like anything extream.

Thanks everyone for the input and I think I've got a good starting point now.
