I had to reload XP on my computer.
I had recorded my original songs on CD with polderbits.
The original wav file is now gone.
How do I convert my CD (from the RW drive) back to a wav file on the computer...so that it can be uploaded on web site?
(I uploaded the original tracks from cassette to CD through the sound card.)
Thanks. |

You can "rip" a CD with Windows Media Player.
Put the CD in the player, go to the "file" menu in Media Player, choose "CDs and devices", then "rip audio CD". You will then get a new menu where you can choose what format you want the tracks imported as,- if you plan to put them on a website then you should choose mp3 at 128 or 160kbps.

I'd use a CD Ripper such as the free "Audiograbber" rather than the Windows Media Player. There is more options and you can Rip as either WAV or MP3 and you don't have to be concerned with the Windows WMA format.

There' also a better free Audio recording program than Polderbits available. Check out "Audacity" http://audacity.soundforge.net |

There is also CDex, which I is available from http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/
Works great and has a plethora of options...[This message was edited by Ray Minich on 25 August 2006 at 11:45 AM.] |

Thanks guys, I saw Steinar's answer first and used Media Player (after I upgraded to the latest version). Also, had to go to Soundblaster site and reload drivers for sound-card, I'd forgotten to do it earlier. Then I put in a Leann Rimes CD I had handy to checkout the soundcard (by the way Yamaha YST-MS50 speakers are great), and the nusiance screen that comes up when you place a cd in the tray, asked if I wanted to rip a CD (duh). Never noticed it before. Thanks everyone. |
