I got this today and forwarded it to spoof@ebay.com and SpamCop, but I thought you all might get a chuckle out of the language used by the idiot who sent it.
quote:
Dear eBay member,
It's been 3 weeks since you won my auction and you haven't sent the payment yet. I will report you to the police and to eBay right away. You will receive a non paying bidder report and your eBay account will be suspended imediately. You a re a bad person you desirve this. Bye bye.

Well, sure, if anybody called me a 'bad person', I'd immediately send them some money just to repair my reputation, wouldn't you? |

What's funny about that part is that I am The Police! The idiot scammer who sent this has been traced by SpamCop, for which I am a member, and has been reported to his Hosting company for illegal activities. They never even consider who might be on the receiving end of their scam emails, nor how easy it is to track them down with the right tools.

Wiz,
Speaking of "who's on the receiving end"... CNN had a report last week about phony emails supposedly from the IRS stating that the receiver has money coming back and a check is waiting... click the link, etc..
The Director of the NY state Dept of Revenue (the head tax guy) received one of these emails! He was amazed at how bold the crooks are. These crooks send out thousands of emails at a time, as you know. We're all becoming wiser as time goes on. |

Yeah, I often chuckle when scammers send me scam emails and I track them down through their headers. It reminds me of something I wrote about in a tongue-in-cheek article many years ago, titled The Adventures Of Steelman, where I referred to myself this way: STEELMAN, who, disguised as the Wiz, mild mannered reporter.... Kind of reminds me of somebody named Bobby, who watches over this forum.
