Few people were interested in the security of the internet in 1988. This technical article documents the big wake-up call that hit systems on Movember 2, 1988.

Interesting.

1988? Lot of us never heard of the internet in 1988. I was using a Mac 512KE back then.

If you wanted to use a PC at work, you had to sign up a week in advance and it was down the hall in a room with about 5 other PCs to share with 100 other folks. The PC's billed out a $20 per hour.

Guess it wasn't so bad -- all our Grandparents had to walk in the snow 5 miles to school.

I was active in Fidonet by then, and I knew a little bit about the Internet. We got a Unix machine (an Apollo) at Time Arts that had all of the utilities necessary to make an internet connection. Never took it in that direction, though.
