I'm sure there are better ways to do this, but, here is what I do.
Download the pic from the camera to a folder in my computer.
See how big (kb) it is. If over 200KB I open it with my "PAINT" program and reduce using Stretch and Skew option ) Then "Save As ######.jpg modified" to distinguish it from the original.
Then I use photobucket.com to host the pic.
They have instructions on how to transfer the pic to them. It's free.
Then I click on the "Generate HTML and IMG Code" option at the bottom of the photobucket page.
I "copy" and "paste" an IMG code into my post on the SGF.
It's a good idea to try it out in the TESTING section first to see if the pic appears.[This message was edited by Mark Vinbury on 25 March 2006 at 01:00 PM.] |

Charlie;
Your digital camera may have come with an outlet to plug it into the USB port on your computer, and maybe even included the cable. If there isn't such a connector you will need a "card reader" device, which plugs into a USB port on the computer and into which you plug memory cards with photos, to transfer by drag and drop into a folder on your hard drive (ex: My Pictures).
Once you have that mastered, and learn to manipulate the photos and save them to the smallest filesize with reasonable definition and clarity you will have to find a place to get the photos hosted online. There are commercial services that provide space, some free, others paid. They will also allot a certain amount of monthly transfer (bandwidth), which you cannot exceed. This refers to how much is viewed by people looking at your photos on web pages.
Once the photos are online you will be given a URL in the form of code, or otherwise, pointing to the various photos online. Each will have a unique filename, like image1.jpg, image2.jpg, etc. The full path to them is very important. It might resemble something like this exemplified URL: http://www.example.com/charlieslocker/image1.jpg
Once you know how to access them online, by name, go to the SGF forum of your choice and POST an new thread. Where you want an image to appear place this code:
[ img]http://www.example.com/image.jpg[/img ]
I have added spaces after the first opening bracket and before the last closing bracket to deactivate the img tag on this forum. To really use an img tag remove all spaces between the brackets and letters inside them.

That's why I didn't attempt to give advice. It's complicated if you don't know what you're doing, and, if the question isn't specific on what the issue is, trying to deal with the entire process can be like drinking from a firehose. |

It's a 4-step process:
1. Take the pictures
2. Download the pictures to your computer
3. Upload the pictures from your computer to a web hosting site
4. Post a Forum message containing the web adddress of the pictures
