I tried to transpose a sound track (wav file)up 4 semitones to accommodate a singers voice range. After transposing with Nero Wave Editor, the sound is "choppy".
I used "wave editor" because I am familier with it and it is easy to use. Perhaps I need a different program.
Has anyone successfully transposed a song and preserved the quality? If so, I am open to suggestions. Keep in mind that I must retain the original tempo (song length). It will save a lot of time if I do not have to re-record the tracks for the new singer.

John, WaveLab seems to interpolate much better and smoother than any other software.

Besides, Nero's add-ons are afterthoughts designed for the home market, not the professional market.

Wow, Peter. Thanks, but $700? My budget can't handle that. There is a demo version, but it will not allow you to save files.

I installed "Audacity"and the plugins. I used "pitch change/without speed change". The quality sounds good. I think Audacity will do the job.

I've done this many times with Sonar 4. Be aware that Sonar is expensive but it works. Maybe you can find some one with Sonar to do the job for you. If you want, email me the WAV file and I'll transpose it. My mail box will not accept more than 7.5MB

The ultimate program for transposing audio is ACID. It used to be made by Sonic Foundry...Sony bought it....but it's still great...

Tim, thanks for the advice. I need a program that will transpose to another key and retain the quality. Have you tried Fleximusic for transposing ?
