Their motto should be: "Meet strippers and 50,000 punk bands who wanna be your friend!"

I use it to advertise gigs, it can be a timewaster, was wondering if any of you steel guitar daddies bothered with Myspace.

I use it for the same reason. I do not put too much stock in it.

Now that the government is all up in our personal business and sequestering Googles search records and such, I wouldnt put a lick of personal info on the web. Some people blog up their deepest darkest secrets, etc. I have heard that a womans myspace page is being used as evidence against her in a child custody case. Recently there was a murder spree by some ax weilding teen, I have heard the feds are tracking down everyone of this guys myspace "friends" to chat with them. You dont know who half your "friends" are. Suddenly everyone you've ever met in your past is able to find you and contact you (that may be a good thing for some, but I am not eager to hear from every person Ive known in the past).....And most of all as the first post mentioned...the gratuitous pornbots and emo punk hosers.

Its too bad, its a good tool for bands for networking, but its a perilous beast right now in our current social climate. Be careful out there.

I wound up with a myspace page because some friends talked me into it. No way was I going to use my real name or show my picture, so I put up a picture of my Sho-Bud undercarriage! (Who'd even know what they were looking at?)

It seems to be a teenager's "meet-market" for the most part anyway. I'm not sure what to use it for frankly.

Hmmmm... Subpoenas for Myspace web page contents, that's a new one. More reasons to "not exist" as Gene Hackman's character said in "Enemy of the State".
Pardon me whilst I go back to my Faraday Cage.
[This message was edited by Ray Minich on 07 February 2006 at 01:03 PM.]

Hey There,
My band Cracklin Moth has a myspace page.
www.myspace.com/cracklinmoth

I had had an axe wielding teen contact us the other day, we sold him a cd.

It is kind of a kid thing but a good way to connect with other groups in your area.

This has been big news in CT for the past few days. Many girls being assaulted from myspace contacts. The Attorney General is involved.

I had a myspace account for a while. I thought I'd use it to network with other musicians. Therefore, I put up my photo, my employment in the music business and so on. I had a few musicians as friends but it turned into a bunch of folks not even in the music business and most under the age of 20 wanting to be friends. So....I deleted my account. Not interested in a bunch of 16 & 17 year old girls wanting to be friends because of who I work for.

Ricky,

My son recommended MySpace to me. But he's 23 and I'm not. But...after reading your Blog I would like to adopt you. Oh? If that smile is really so good, how come you're not showing it off! Image
