Do any of you use Band-in-a-Box to practice and learn songs with? Is there much in the way of music for BIAB that helps entry level steeler wanabees?

After I learned the basics, I did my own songs removing the melody, changing the instruments to suit me, and then burned a CD. I use them when I play outside. It's like having a back up band.

Do a search for BIAB or Band-in-a-box and you'll find a lot of info. Also contact Big Jim Baron at bigjim4b@sbcglobal.net for your questions. Jim is a BIAB dealer, forum member, great steel guitar picker, and BIAB guru. Jim's 4100+ CD is a "Must Have" cd with over 4100 biab songs ready to load.

BIAB is an excellent program for practicing steel guitar. You can make up your own arrangements and styles to fit your need.

There are 11 good BIAB video tutorials available at a click of your mouse

one thing I find VERY helpful in practicing (or just 'jamming') with BIAB is that it is always 'in tune' and 'at tempo'. maybe that's two things.

Thanks for all the information about BIAB. I ordered from Jim Baron. I'm looking forward to playing with the software. At least my computer will be able to play music.

the biab is good and like most things has a learning curve... many songs are available for cheap and free,, but most have to be tweeked for correct chords, arangments and endings,, i am starting a web site of usable (live)songs.
oh yeah the biab live help thing is good on pg music.. another is george wixon very good at gwixon.com let me know if you want any custom song tweeks

There are a couple of things I had to learn the hard way: (1) BIAB requires either a "Sound Blaster Compatible" sound card or an external device such as an Edirol SD-20; and (2) the icon that changes your charts from chord names to Roman numsral, Arabic numbers, etc. may not show up at the top of your screen unless you change the screen resolution on your computer.
