Are there any safe lyrics sites at the web, and in that case where?
Referring to several forumites' experiences with malware infections when they've surfed COWPIE (see the thread Contageous sites below) it would be nice to find safer country lyrics sites.

All of the lyrics websites are safe if you surf using any or all of these criteria:
- Browse with Firefox or Opera instead of Internet Explorer
- If you insist on browsing with Internet Explorer disable ActiveX controls whether they are marked safe for scripting or not, disable "active scripting" (Jscript), disable file downloads, disable Iframes, disable Java, uncheck the advanced Internet options for Downloading and installing on demand for Internet Explorer and for Other, and uncheck the option that allows third party extensions to be installed. If you use banking sites that require the use of Javascript or ActiveX controls place those sites, and only those sites into your Trusted Sites Zone. Place Windows Update in your Trusted Sites Zone, and do the same for Symantec Live Update.
- Reduce the permissions for your day-to-day browsing account to Limited User, and either switch to an Administrative level account or log off and onto an Administrative level account to install programs or run updates to ones that require admin priviliges. Alternately, use the RunAs command to update programs, running as the Administrator, or as a user in the Administrators Group (create these accounts before reducing your own account to Limited User). You MUST have an Administrator password to use the RunAs command. This will stop almost all malware from installing since Limited Users cannot install programs that write to any system directory or run as services. Virtually all malware requires Admin priviliges to install and run effectively, especially rootkits.
I call this practicing safe hex.

I used to use Totaltabs.com or Countrytabs.com. both are run by the same guy. There are a ton of lyrics there. You can get a certain amount of lyrics free per month. If you want unlimited time on the sites its about 3 dollars a month. I stopped using the site because the political posts out numbered anything of musical interst and because I dont need tablature. But, Korry keeps a pretty safe site and there are a ton of lyrics on the site.....James |

That should be the current version of Firefox or Opera.
While Firefox and Opera have been better about addressing security concerns than Microsoft, they are not immune from being exploited. Therefore, keeping up with updates is required to be protected against newly discovered security holes. |
