Got something bad this morning, my hard drive(40 gig) is filled up except for 2mb of space.
Spybot got 5 or 6 programs which I deleted. MS
antispyware was deleted from my machine! Avg shows nothing. A system restore has put my laptop into working condition, except for the used up hardrive space. Any ideas? I'll be gone 'till this evening. Thanks in advance, JimmyP

Several years ago my computer became infected with a virus. This virus created subdirectory after subdirectory after subdirectory and ate up at the strorage in the hard drive. There was no antivirus program that would delete it. I had to have someone come in and maually delete all the subdirectories. It got sooooo bad that it didn't even have enough capacity to boot up Windows anymore.

Jim, you might try running stinger, see what it finds. http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

It sounds like a virus. Bagle, for one, fills up your drive with virus files if you get infected. Probably others that do the same thing. Keep in mind, if you find a virus, you'll have to turn off system restore to remove it, then turn it back on afterwords.
