This post is simular to the one about a USB device to record LP's to CD's. I just hooked my soundcard to the stereo using a 1/8" mini plug to RCA plugs adapter going to the Aux in of my Reciever.
Would there be any advantage to going from a USB device to my Receiver? I know it would depend on the quality of the soundcard.

Listen to the setup and see if you're happy with it.
As I said in my post on LP to CD conversion, the device in question has a ground isolation circuit. If your current configuration is giving you some buzz (probably due to a ground loop), then the USB device may improve your sound quality. But other than that, its probably not any better than your current soundcard. The only reason to use the USB, since you already have audio in the PC, is if you just want to spend $$$$.
USB is the least desired I/O for audio and obviously you need the extra hardware device.

Wayne,since I use my computers as tools for creating and playing music, I do as you did. I connect the audio output to a stereo amp and good speakers.
In my home studio, it is connected to the studio mixer. In another computer at another location, I connect to a small stereo with bookshelf speakers.
You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a decent sound.

What do you recommend if the stereo is in another room?
Any good wireless units out there?
Is there one that doesn't rely on FM transmission? |

| There are units that transmit the audio digitially using the Wi-Fi (802.11) standard. I'm pretty sure most of them utilize some form of lossy compression. I personally haven't had a chance to try one out. |
