Recently when I list a bunch of files,(search results for example)a number of the file names are shown in blue lettering. The rest are black.
I'm not sure what this means or why it started happening.
Only thing I can guess is they are duplicate files or are files generated by a backup program.
I'm using Windows XP with SP2

Mark, the highlighted words may be the exact words you typed in for your search. "help" searches also highlight the search words in the displayed pages.

Files or directories that are compressed will appear in blue. (with XP)

To see whether a file is compressed, right-click, select "properties", select "advanced". There is a check-box called "compress to save disk-space."

Compressed files consume less disk space but may be slower to access since they have to be uncompressed to read them.
