Got the following phish scam--seemingly a request for additional shipping and one I haven't seen before. I couldn't reconcile the email address with anything I'd won on eBay and I hadn't ordered anything else online lately. (And f. u. if you miscalculated shipping in the first place..."Edward".) The original of course showed up in complete and authentic-looking Paypal graphics and MAY have been authentically Paypal. This might turn on the fact that if he requests and I pay, it might be construed as a mutual transaction. But ask an attorney.

I reported it to paypal, ebay and the antiphishing site mentioned earlier in this forum. Although sorely tempted, I refrained from replying to Edward to inform him of the fact.

Hope this helps. (In cyberspace, no one can hear you scream.)

Ben

Update: turns out this dimbulb seller WAS trying to request additional shipping after setting a fixed price in the auction. (I paid what he specified immediately--about two weeks ago.) Needless to say, my reaction to him about compensating his stupidity was eloquent and forceful. He did everything possible to make it look even sleazier than it was.

So, sorry for the widespread alarm. Not a terrorist conspiracy...just one lone village idiot.
