Quick Way to Send Photos?

Is there a quicker method to send photos by E-mail than using jpg files?

I sent 2 E-Mail attachments last night and the transmission took 45 minutes.

What operating system are you using? Windows XP?

One really nice feature in Windows XP is the "mail picture" feature in Explorer. This feature is used by browsing to your picture (I like to store mine in the "My Pictures" folder) and then single click on the file so it is highlighted. Then on the left hand side of the window a set of options will appear. One of them is called "Email Picture" or something like that (not sitting at a Windows XP computer right now). Click the "email" option. Then a dialog box will appear and ask you if you would like to keep the original image size or would you like Windows to shrink it for quicker email. I generally do the quick email option and it works out great.

Hopefully you have Win XP and can take advantage of this feature!

As Mark hinted, its not really the use of e-mail that is your problem. The problem is that your image files are large. There are two ways of getting smaller image files.

1 - Resize the image (some software will call this resampling) so that it has fewer pixels

2 - Save the image in a more compressed format. Some formats like BMP files are always quite large. You probabaly want to be using JPG files. JPG files can have a variable amount of compression. When you save as a JPG file, your software should prompt you for how much you want to compress (there is a trade off with picture quality). Play with the compression value until you are happy with the trade off between transfer time and quality.

If Mark's method of getting smaller files doesn't work for you, I can give you more details about other methods.
