My computer balked tonite at startup and demanded I put in a boot disk to start it up! Fortunately, I somehow managed to trick it into starting anyway, and it seems ok now, but I don't want to press my luck. Can someone tell me how to burn a startup disk for Win2000? There must be a function on the 'puter somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.
Thx,

Look in Start-Help for "Emergency Repair Disk". There is a full walkthrough of how to create one using the Win2K backup tool.
A word to the wise, if you're having trouble starting the computer, I strongly advise backing up your entire system ASAP! |

Jim you might want to check out http://www.bootdisk.com for more info on bootdisks for Win2K as well as all other flavors of windows. Also, there is info for making bootable CDs for computers without floppy drives. |

Thanks, guys. My 'puter is old enough to have a floppy drive in it, but I was thinking I could burn the startup files onto a CD-R and start from that, no? Or, perhaps the CD-R drive won't work at that point and I have to use the floppy? |

Yep, still putting floppy drives in. Just bought a new box last week; although, I think you can configure them withoout that.
The build-in backup exec in XP Professional creates a floppy boot disk. I suspect I should kick it over to CD just to have one.
