You didn't mention which sound card or which version of Mandrake you're running. But here are some things to try:
- Be sure you're logged in as root when running sndconfig, or better yet, use "su sndconfig".
- Check the settings in your mixer. Many people report that after running or reinstalling sndconfig the volume is reset to zero.
- Be sure sndconfig is actually on your system. Mandrake sometimes does not load it by default. Search your system for "sndconfig". If it's not there, you can load it from the first Mandrake CD.
- Be sure your path is correct when typing the command. A search should give you the file's location if it's installed.
Disclaimer: sndconfig is a Red Hat tool. That's what I run so there may be differences with Mandrake's implementation.[This message was edited by Jeff Agnew on 15 October 2003 at 04:11 AM.]
