Ken, I'm not familiar with WordPerfect, but it's most likely similar to how you would delete (c) from "auto-correcting" to copyright within WORD:
Under TOOLS scroll down to "autocorrect", where you should see a list of optional symbols and automatic spelling corrections. click on the(c)and delete. This is the same place you would go to create other automatic text and spelling correction exceptions.
OR, go to HELP and research under "How to".
OR . . . just when the character changes within the document, click the HELP button. It might give you the info right there.
Years ago before I was quite so savy
I was working on IRS 501(c)(3)documents to qualify an agency for non-profit tax status.
It was a lengthy process, and IT WOULDN'T LET ME WRITE IT WITHOUT TRYING TO USE THE COPYRIGHT SYMBOL. Made me crazy. And the rest is history.
Good luck!
