I don't know how valid this offer is, but I just got this in my email. They're selling it for $39.95.

It seems that everywhere we go Norton is offering essentially the same updates but for different prices.

I just updated to 2003 for $29.95....others on the Forum have reported getting it for almost nothing after rebates...so who knows what the real price is?

At whatever price though, Norton has "saved" my system mnumerous times and is more than worth the cost. Gene

If I'm reading the rebate details correctly (they don't make it easy), ignoring an expired offering, Amazon is selling this for $33.

Jim ,

You and a lot of the other folks on here that know a lot about these "monsters" called computers , are appreciated-- certainly by me. I know just enough about these things to turn one on , and look at the forum news and posts .I really admire you folks that know how to get all the unlimited actions these computers are capable of .

I will pass on my very limited experience with the Norton Systemworks . I downloaded this a year or so ago and man I had all kinds of problems with it sort of taking over my syetem ! As an example , Norton advertised how they could elimnate or really cut down on freezes ! Not so -- I found they were worse than ever ! Most if not all , the other portions of their "systemworks" conflicted with my Windows 98 so that a number of things got to operating worst instead of better . After putting up with all this for way too long , I finally removed the total package , purchased Norton 2002 Anti -Virus ONLY and have been more than happy with that and all the automatic features it has . I have renewed it for another year but I expect I will go with Norton 2003 next time .I understand it is has even more automatic features than the 2002 program .

I will NEVER have Norton Systemworks program again on my system as it is too strong and has given me nothing but problems . All I want is a reliable Anti -Virus program and Norton 2002 has been great !!

Just a computer "know-nothing" expressing my 2 cents worth and my limited experience with a program that did'n work for me .

John

John, I'll have to agree with you about Systemworks and other programs taking over your PC, if you let them. All I use of the package are the Anti-Virus, Speed Disk, and Ghost. I disable the rest at installation. The package price is still much cheaper than buying those three pieces separately, which is the only reason I buy it.

Joe,

The only difference between 2001, 2002 & 2003 are some of the features. For instance, in 2002 they introduced the "automatic updating". This sensed when you were onlin and automatically updated your DAT files for you. In 2003, they came out with an updated engine for the application. The new 2003 virus scans have been also including a firewall application also a script blocker in them. If I were to recommend, I would go with the latest version of Norton. It has many bells and whistles that were not included in the 2001 version. You may never need/use them, but you will be glad you had it when the time comes.

Mark

p.s. Joe, Check your email...I am sending you some information regarding that virus...sorry so late!
