before I go on line, I need to do this ? why

Hey Guys , Before i go on line,here latey I need to go and unplug my phoneline to my compuler when plug right back then I can get on line ok. and if i get kit off line then i need to do all over again ? why thanks Gary.

I'm sure you checked this, but just in case, there are two places to plug into on most modems, Line and Telephone. You should be in Line, not telephone.

If that didn't do it, get cable modem or dsl.
