Help With QuickTime (Macintosh)

Post by Lee Holeman »

When I download an MP3 file QuickTime automatically takes over, then I'm unable to get other programs (mixers, etc) to recognize or open them. Can anyone help?

Use the File Exchange control panel to tell your Mac which program you want to open MP3 files by default. You can also change the file's Type and Creator using any of several utilities such as Drop Info, available through various download sites. When you drop a file onto Drop Info, it allows you to change the Creator type for that file to the application you want to open. For example, the Creator type for QuickTime is TVOD, while the Creator type for MusicMatch Jukebox is MMJB. If I change the MP3's Creator to MMJB, it will open in MusicMatch Jukebox rather than the QuickTime Player.

If you have a PowerPC running sys. 9.04 or later - I suggest you use iTunes (free download from the Apple site)....it is really easy to use.....and you can convert WAV AIFF and MP3...all interchangeable...(you go to Preferences and select Importing....and then go to Advanced in the top menu to make your conversion selection.
Also, Windows Media player has a version (7.0) for the mac....so you can play PC audio and video files.
Any problems or questions, e-mail me.
