I just ran across this program a couple of days ago. Its a music transcription program. Up to now my favorite transcription program was Musicians CD Player. I think I'm gonna like this one better. It has slowdown, stereo balance slider & the most interesting feature to me is a spectrum analysis of the wave file, it tries to show what note(s) are being played. Its shareware with full function for 30 days. Can be downloaded at http://www.seventhstring.demon.co.uk/xscribe/index.html

And the cool thing is that the x axis of the spectrum analysis of the chord being played is expressed not in Hertz but superimposed over a piano keyboard. You can play the notes one by one. You have to learn to ignore the upper harmonics spikes, though.

Thanks for turning me on to this. You get to where you can usually hear what's going on, but I still get stuck-- and this software is perfect for just those occasions.
