I just got the Band in a Box program and find it to be a cool practice tool. At the Dallas show I noticed several players had lap top computors with BIAB installed. What type lap top computer would be good for BIAB as the sound card has to a certain type for best sound duplication and also some units are easier on the eyes when viewing the screen. Any suggestions?

It doesn't really matter about what kind of laptop you have, just that it has good speakers. You can also plug in some external speakers to most laptops and get better sound than what you would get with the laptop's internal speakers.

Len,
I use a Compact 1275 with no problems. The sound card on most newer computers probably won't matter if you use a soft synth such as the Roland one that BIAB sells. I just come out of the front mounted headphone jack and patch to an amplifier or use headphones for the computer and an amp for the steel. I like the touch pad mouse for practice use. I set the computer on my left side. It is easy to reach and use with one hand. With the BallPoint mouse, I used to have to try and operate it with my picks on. I think that the eraser head mouse would also be hard to operate.

If you can't live with the couse on your laptop, do what I did and get you a regular PS/2 mouse and plug into your computer when you need it. Logitech has some good laptop mice at logitech.com. |
