I would hope this area of the Forum would deal with software as related to computer music as well as other related computer questions. If so, I see Roland has recently come out with a new sound module, the sound canvas 8820. (ED SC-8820, about $500) I am seriously considering this for midi. Anyone have any experience with this unit yet, or comments?

Hi Ken! Musicians' Friend had the Roland LAPC
boards around 1994 for $200 with a mess of bundled software, so I "bit". Some of the midi voices were better than any I've heard since, other than from the ROM banks of an EMU Proteus. The LAPC was about a grand when first sold, back when stuff didn't plummet in price on a daily basis, like my Creative AWE-64 which were $500 at first and now $23 brand new!
There's an owners' comment (revue) database at Hamony Central (.com), but you have to kick around there a bit to find it.
