I would like to know the best steel settings for the Nashville 400 that most everyone uses.
Thanks

I would think amp settings vary depending on the volume level, venue, type of reflecting surfaces, size of crowd, raised stage or floor level etc. I have no experience with that amp, but every tube or solid-state amp I have ever used had settings changed for every single gig or studio session. "typical" amp settings can only be "typical" for use in specific places.

What I used with the Nashville 400 (with a factory tone mod) is basically what I used with a Session 500 and what I use now with either a Nashville 1000 or Nashville 112.
I may change slightly depending on how new strings are, etc but that is my "basic" or "starting point" and usually I don't have to change it.
These settings work with the amp raised off the floor - either on an amp stand or chair. If you set it on the floor the settings will be different.
Basically,
Low +9
Mid -3
Shift 800Hz
High and Presence approx +1

There are tone control settings for E9th and C6th in the operating guide at
www.peavey.com
There is also an article which explains how the equalization controls work and interact on that site.

One major point with the NV 400 is whether to have the bright switch in or out. When I use my effects rack I have the bright switch out and when I just use the steel into the amp I push the bright switch in.
Its a great amp.

Interesting!! Dave, is that everything on 10 to the + side or the - side. Never thought to try that. I will give it a try when I get home tonight. Take care.

Where are you setting your SHIFT control? Also, the MID is on +10, correct? Seems to give better separation on the note with your setting.
