Eminence Speaker

Hope some one can tell me which Eminence speaker has light weight plus good high frequency responce. I bought a 15 inch 4 ohm speaker from a fellow forumite and he said in his post that it didn't have enough highs.
Well i thought that if the highs were there, my Fender Twin would bring them out, but the highs just aren't there. I have an E-130 JBL but it's so heavy that my 66 year old diabetic body just can't carry it around. I really would like a light speaker that sounds good with steel. TJH

I have the Eminence Deltalite 15, an 8ohm speaker and I use it with a Fender Dual Showman Head.
Althought the ohms are mismatched, it sounds great and is plenty loud and plenty of highs.
I don't know the 4 ohm model that you have.
If you put the Deltalite 15 speaker in the Twin cabinet, which is a good idea,
be careful as the amp will become very top heavy and fall over easily.

I think the only 4 ohm 15" speaker that Eminence
has is a Bass speaker (with limited frequency range).

Thurlon, try the new Kappalite 3015. I have one in my Webb 614E and its the cats whiskers. Plenty of highs lows and in betweens, also reduces the weight of the amp considerably. A very sweet speaker for Steel.

Thurlon, have you tried turning down the mids and turning up the treble? That can sometimes bring a "dead-sounding" speaker to life. The reason is that the mids (which we hear best) can get far too loud before you have enough high-end to hear. Turning down the mids allows you to get more power into the upper frequencies.

I have 50 Kappalite 3015 (neodymium magnet) speakers on order from Eminence. This will be the exclusive speaker for the Webb amps currently under assembly. I'm supposed to receive these speakers by the end of this month. I will offer them as a separate purchase item to anyone who wishes one. I have several Forum members already waiting to try out these speakers. The price will be $123.00 (which includes shipping within the U.S.).

As all know, I welcome back anything purchased from me that is deemed not satsifactory to the purchaser. I am trusting that buyers' reports (here on the Forum) will match what I hear when listening to the speakers: they mimic the sound of a JBL. I concluded this when A-B testing them against a JBL E-130. They weigh 8 pounds, compared to the 23 pounds of a JBL E-130. The only difference I have found between the two is volume. On my Webb amps, they provide exactly 10% less volume than a JBL. However, with the Webb's output of over 200 watts, I've never risked driving them with the amp's volume fully "on"!

When the Webb amps are ready for sale, a buyer can obtain the amp with a 15" Kappalite 3015 speaker or without any speaker. All the amps will have four adjustable front ports and a removable back cover. Thus, a Webb amp can be played having a completely enclosed speaker, or with closed, open, or adjustable front ports, an opened back, a closed back, or whatever configuration the user desires. That is because the amp will come with a speaker chamber. ...Tom

I bought the Emminence Commonwealth 15", 4 OHM for my Dual Showman Cabinet. I'm wondering how your speaker will do with the DSR. REason is I have aa Twin cab with a 15" baffle and could have it in there. Is it 4 ohm?

with a 560 watt power amp) since last spring.
I've used it in several clubs as well as some
outdoor gigs this past summer. It sounds great
no matter where I take it!
They're only made in 8 ohm though.

I'd suggest also checking with Ted at WeberVST. They make a wide range of speakers in 4, 8 & 16 ohms versions. You can call Ted, tell him what you're trying o accomplish and he can make a recommendation.

I've had far better results with Weber speakers than Eminence, Jensen (the new ones, not the classic originals) and JBL's. I have a custom 12" that is sort of a cross between their California and Chicago, with a much lighter magnet. Nice, tight response with great headroom, and not a bear to carry around.

It's worth the call.

Hi, I use two 12" Eminence DeltaPro 8 ohms speaker in my cabinets. 350 watts each. They sounds wonderfull. Very tight Bass and round mids and highs with a lot of headroom. The sound is much more open than the Peavey 12"BW speakers + the price is much lower.
