Lately I started using a Boss GE-7 EQ and liked it except for the hiss. I had seen some chatter here and there regarding a mod for the EQ that upgraded some caps and op amps on this pedal and made a substantial reduction of the hissyness. Having had the mod done to the pedal and used it in my little outboard effects array, I am liking the results. It's really quiet and transparent to my ears and a nice improvement for both quiet practice and, I'd think, for recording too. Here's the link if anybody is interested: http://www.cmatmods.com/MODS/MODS.htm#GE-7

Al, That is very cool that you went for the mod. Glad you like it!
I might have to send my MT-2 to these folks. I really like this effect for some Sneaky Pete like distortion.
