Battery-less Profex mod coming to an end!

I have only a few chips left. I am shipping 5 out tomorrow. I have just been informed that my distributor has no stock and ZMD is no longer making/supporting the chip.

I may be able to get some from a broker in Europe. More to come later.

Regardless, there are no more being manufactured by ZMD! The next order I get (if I can get one ) will be the end of it, I feel certain.

I will post here as soon as I know more!!!
[This message was edited by Ken Fox on 24 August 2006 at 09:12 AM.]

Off-topic, Ken, but it was good seeing you at Saluda this weekend. Just wish you'd played that Tele a little bit!
[This message was edited by Stephen Gambrell on 21 August 2006 at 05:23 PM.]

Thanks, Steve. It was good to be there.

On a sad note we are at the end of the battery-less memory chips. I managed to get 100 from a surplus house and had to suffer a 50 percent price increase! After that, we will be done with the mods, it appears!

I am still waiting on the last 100 chips for the battery-less mod. I hope they will be here this week.

Almost every unit I am seeing now has battery leakage. I sent a Trasnstubefex to Peavey for repair. It was so bad it could not be salvaged. keep in mind this is a much newer unit than a Profex or a Tubefex!

The Sesson 2K amps are about the same era as the TransFex Pro amp. I am seeing more and more of those with leakage ans damage!

Your battery will leak if it has not yet. Please check for leakage and damage as soon as you can!

Ken

You may recall that I'll be returning home from ND to Naples, FL, and passing near you on Friday, 8th September.

I'm really hoping that you can save me two chips for my Profex 11 and the Bass-Fex I got from you a while back.

I'll call you when I'm on my way back - I leave here Monday.

Thanks,

Roger R.

Can't say enough about Ken's service. I sent my Trans TubeFex to him on Monday for a chip and got it back on Saturday of the same week. That's with the US Postal Service doing the handling duties. He also called me to let me know it was ready for shipping and what he had done and found.

Also sent me a new chip for my ProFex II with photo and instructions on how to install and offered to do it over the phone if I needed help.

Great service Ken! Thanks.
[This message was edited by Jim Eller on 03 September 2006 at 05:36 AM.]

Thanks Jim! We had a very busy week. I went through the remainder of my remaining inventory and a good chunk of the 100 I just ordered and got in this week. Only 70 of those are left now. I am also getting response from the Yahoo Groups, Tubefex Forum as well for chips. I had one guy there with 6 of the Peavey Transfex Pro 212 amps!

Please let me know ASAP if you need a chip (or chips and Burr Brown chips) sent to you or if you want to sent your unit in for me to work on.

I am keeping a list of everyone sending stuff in for installs or buying chips direct. ]

Hi Ken, what would the total cost be (inc shipping) for a chip for my pro-fex2, as I live in the UK, if you have any left that is? By the way I've just had a new battery fitted to it. ps how could I pay you? pay pal?

Dave, a single memory chip shipped to anywhere is 36.00. I ship via USPS Global Priority Mail for out of U.S. sales and use Priority Mail for U.S. sales.

Each additional chip in the same order is 30.00.

I have instructions and pictures for the Profex 2/Bassfex, Tubefex, Transtubefex, Session 2K and Transfex Pro amps showing the chip(s) to replace and battery location as well.

Burr Brown chips in the same shipment are an additional 30.00 per set.

I can also pre-program a Profex 2 or Bassfex chip (same unit) with a nice combo of Newman/Peterson settings at no additional charge. All you have to do is remove the battery, the old memory chip and then plug in the new memory chip. No re-initialization required (as it would wipe the chip of my settings).

Of the 100 ZMD chips we just recently got in only 45 are uncommitted. I also have 100 Burr Brown chip we just received, as we were out of those! A lot of those are committed already. It takes four for a Profex 2 or Bassfex audio upgrade.
[This message was edited by Ken Fox on 11 September 2006 at 12:18 PM.]
