I recently decided to replace my NV400 with a NV1000 to see if I liked it. I think it may have a problem, though. I have the pre gain set between 1 and 2, and use the post for the master volume. Anything set above 2 on the post will result in the amp almost being too loud, and distorting if I play with any agression at all. I have not had this happen on any other amp I have played through(including guitar amps). Is this a characteristic of the NV1000, or is something not kosher?
Thanks,
Jake Lowe |

I set my post gain on 10 always....Pre gain on 2 or 3 at the most. Clean as a whistle....run my 112 the exact same way...there must be something wrong with yours.

Jake, are you using a powered volume pedal? If so, the gain on the pedal may be set too high. |

Something doesn't sound right.....no pun intended. I would try eliminating everything except your guitar and a cable to connect it to the amp. If your guitar worked fine with the 400, it should work fine in the 1000. Call me toll free at 1-877-732-8391, ext. 1180 and I'll be glad to discuss this with you.
Thanks for choosing Peavey,

Well, y'all have helped again. I lowered the gain on my Hilton pedal, and no more distortion. Maybe I should ask y'all how to get my horses to take that last step with the back legs up into the trailer!
Thanks for the help!

Jake, you asked for it!!!
Take a 20 foot lasso..tie one end onto the opposite side of the trailer gate...lay it on the ground looped back away from the gate and back to your side (like a "C")...when the pony gets to stallin', grab the rope and pull it up against his legs below his butt...he'll move right on in (usually). If he bucks, at least you're not in the path. Used this method for years. |

Mike B...
The problem was that the gain on my volume pedal was turned up too high. I also found and tweaked the VP tone knob, and everything sounds great now.
