Ernie Ball volume pedal - string broke

Hi there,

I bought this pedal used from a music store and really have only used it for a couple of weeks before the string broke! I'll be going back to the store but as a backup, I was wondering how easy is it to fix without messing up the feel of the pedal? Any tips would be much appreciated.

Also, I notice the pedals are now supposed to come with Kevlar cords, which break eventually but can be replaced. Does anybody know, would the new cords fit the old pedals.
