| I have had this gt6 for several months now. I keep getting an overdrive sound. I have all the overdrives off. I feel like it is volume issue. My fiddle has a preamp. I run the volume on it somewhere from the half way point down. The gain on the back of the gt6 I have tried in several positions and the volume level for each patch I have tried in different settings. Does anyone have suggestion or is it some other problem that I have found in the patches or the order the effects are run. I usually only use reverb, delay, and a little eq but no volume boost on the eq just flat. |

| Will, You might check to see if there is a preamp or amp modeling "pedal" engaged. |

| I don't use any modeling when I run through my amp. Any other suggestions. Someone tell me. What should be higher the main gain on the back of the pedal or the volume for each patch? Keep up with the suggestions. I don't want to get rid of this pedal but if it just naturally has this overdriven sound, its got to go. |

| I could never get a good steel sound thru a GT-6. It was always too thin and a little bit hairy. So I think you may not want to keep it for steel guitar. |

I had the same experience. Finally eliminated using amp models and created patches with low first stage gain and high output level. The EQ also offers a level adjustment. But I never got the same dimension that I got with my Boss VF-1 or Boss GX700. Replaced the GT-6 with a Line 6 POD XT Live and greatly prefer it over the GT-6.

I use a GT-6 and a GT-8 ALL THE TIME
Best FX box I've ever used
All of the steel parts on my most recent CD were recorded with only a GT-6 straight into the board. I couldn't get a better sound with an amp -- I TRIED.

Most everything on that page uses the GT-6
Check your output (knob on rt side of backplate). You may be overdriving your input on your amp. Also, each stage/effect/eq has its own gain. There is a level meter that can be used to ensure your eq isn't overdriving your signal chain, for example.
