Is Rickenbacker really putting out new lap steels? I saw this listing on a Swedish shop's site ( www.tiptop.se ):
"Rickenbacker Lapsteel Limited Edition S100N NEW. Only 100 will be made! Black with vintage RIC pickup.Rickenbacker have not made lapsteels since 1950s.Arrive during 2002.TIP TOP have ordered several of these but please order soon. They will sell out...Will become collectors items direct"
Here's URL to the actual page: http://cgi.algonet.se/htbin/cgiwrap/d9804tip/tillsalu.cgi?nyhet=30
Rickenbacker's site seems not to be working, maybe someone has seen these at NAMM??

This topic was discussed earlier. From what I remember the new steels are similar to the Model 100 wood body steel guitars of the 60s and 70s, not the Bakelite-style guitars which are more sought after.
